Photo above: Afghan Rubāb brought back from Kabul in 1973. This instrument is over 50 years old. It was fully restored in 2019. Very rare, it is mounted in 5 strings. Size 64 cm, vibrating string length 58 cm. Stamp similar to the Afghan rubab from Tajikistan. Ideal for a collector. Sold in October 2024.

Photo above: is a sarod or ancient Afghan rubāb. The shape of the instrument is unusual and does not correspond to Afghan or Pakistani manufacture. It is likely to be a sarod. It is a large 67 cm vibrating string. The shape is reminiscent of a sarod before the metal fingerboard was added. The instrument has been restored to playable condition and sounds fine.

Photo above: An Afghan Sugudu, or qobuz, based on plans I drew up myself. The body is made from several pieces of apricot wood. The neck is also made of apricot. The 3 silk strings and a bridge made of horn.
